The trailer also goes to town on , which is a nice touch but sort of sums up why this game sadly failed to hit its mark.

Put simply, Gundam’s value stems and pivots around its host anime, not the games. The truer the games are to the anime, the more successful they are. Obviously, you need to make good games for that to hold true and Gundam has a .

However, trying to is just not going to work, as has been proven by Gundam Evolution’s early demise.

Bandai Namco did go all in on Gundam Evolution though, but they really should have just leaned into the Gundam Extreme Versus games more. Released those on Steam and on current consoles and given them the same kind of marketing push that Gundam Evolution received.

I mean, is just sitting there to be ported to Steam, Switch and everything else. Monetizing that further would have been easy too, as you just need to add more DLC units and currency for HUD cosmetics and navis.

Anyway, the “Last Shooting” title for Gundam Evolution’s final season comes from the ending scene in Mobile Suit Gundam. Where the damaged and titular Gundam loses its head and arm and fires upward.

Gundam Evolution is available to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. The game will end its service on November 29.
